How we work
Project review
asa receives projects from different countries and a team of ambassadors are assigned to review them. Our goal is to ensure every project gets proper attention prior to down select recommendation. Typical timeline is 3-4 weeks
Project sponsor
Internal and external down selected projects are reviewed during the monthly board meeting to seek sponsorship from chief ambassadors. For a project to get full evaluation, it needs ONE chief ambassador to sponsor the engagement.
Due diligence
Chief ambassador and other ambassadors work with the project submission team to further evaluate and analyze the project. Focus is on problem statement, solution impact, financial and other resource needs, critical requirements, timelines, and risks associated with the project. Typical timeline is 4-5 weeks.
Decision
Chief ambassadors review the sponsored projects during the monthly board meetings and a final vote is called prior to the award decision. Our protocol calls for unanimous decision for a commitment to be made to the projects. Exceptions are made in few selected cases.
Commitment
Decisions are communicated to the project team, budget and resources are setup to ensure project activities are initiated in a timely manner. We strive for 97% of the funds committed to benefit the children impacted
Ongoing Involvment
Sponsoring chief ambassador of the project continues the sponsor role and becomes asa’s liason for the project. Additionally, chief ambassadors and support team are actively engaged in the project on an ongoing basis. Chief ambassador presents project updates during the monthly board meetings
